The rewards program for the world’s most popular coffee chain has just become a whole lot more valuable. Because starting today, buying a cup of Joe can earn you points towards airline tickets as well as hotel stays. How? By signing up for the Delta SkyMile program when you buy coffee at any of their more than 6,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada. Here’s how it works: Shop at Starbucks on Monday-Friday between 8am and 11pm (or anytime on weekends) and get a stamp on your loyalty card for every purchase you make. Once you’ve earned 30 stamps in one calendar month, you get an additional reward — which is where all that flying starts coming from.

How Does Delta SkyMiles Work?

To participate in the Delta SkyMiles program, you have to be a current Starbucks Rewards member. Once you’re signed up, you can shop at any store that sells Starbucks coffee — including the ones that sell other brands of coffee as well. Each participating store will have an app for iOS and Android devices that lets you track your points, redeem your points for discounted coffee, and check if your points have been deposited into your account.

How to Earn Delta SkyMiles on Coffee

Once you’ve earned your 30 stamps, you can expect to start seeing emails from the store that will let you know how many points you’ve earned. On the day you get your first email, head to the store and make a purchase. That purchase will earn you points towards a future purchase, such as a flight or hotel stay. Once you redeem your points, the store will issue you a receipt and you can use those points to get a discount on future purchases.
